The Tennessee Motor Vehicle Bill of Sale is considered a legal document that proves the legal sale and purchase of a motor vehicle in the state of Tennessee. The form will provide information regarding the seller, the buyer, identifying information about the vehicle and change of ownership. This is a state-provided form and will therefore not require notarization unless otherwise specified by seller and buyer or the county clerk’s office at registration.

Odometer Disclosure Statement (Form RV-F1317001) – Required by the seller to complete in order to provide a written statement that the odometer has not been tampered, reset, or rolled-back.

Register a Vehicle in Tennessee

If you have purchased a vehicle and would like to use it on Tennessee roadways, it must be registered. You may purchase a temporary plate while the process is being completed.

Where to Register – You may gather your documentation and either drop it off for processing at one of your nearest County Clerk’s Locations or you may mail it to your local office.
