Excellent torque wrench and an excellent value. Originally, I purchased a $10 Pittsburgh Torque Wrench from Harbor Freight; however, I was worried about the accuracy of this product as it did not come with any certification. Since I was working on my Mazda 3’s suspension, I came to the conclusion it wasn’t worth my safety or the possibility of over torquing a bolt. Therefore, I spent the extra $30 and purchased this Tekton which was given several positive reviews on Amazon and on the internet. More importantly, it came with a certification stating it was properly tested. The Tekton was easy to use, the markings were clear, and it made a solid, audible click when the proper torque was met. It feels solid and well made. I also feel confident that a wheel won’t be falling off my car anytime soon. If you are in the market for a good torque wrench at a great value, this would be the one for you.

The more and more I use these TEKTON tools, the more I like them. I took this wrench to a calibration station at work. Its within 1% of set torque, and after using it for about three hours solid, it maintains its calibration. Wonderful for the price, I was kind of skeptical when I bought it. I also have their 20-200 inch pound torque wrench and it performs the same as this one.Pros—Well Built. The lock in the handle has a positive grab and doesn’t come loose once you set it.–Unlike many cheap tools on Amazon, this wrench is well built and the handle numbers are easy to read.–Newton Meters are printed on the back of the wrench (one scale is Ft.Lbs, flip it over, Newton Meters.)–Positive “CLICK” when preset torque is reached. No weak clicks here.Cons—The only one I could think of was the scales are etched gray into the handle. It might be a little difficult to read after awhile, or for someone with poor eyesight.Overall, great torque wrench!

I got this wrench for torquing tire lug nuts to the proper OEM torque. This wrench is a little over 18 inches long and provides plenty of length to easily torque tire lug nuts. It is a great range for this application on normal-sized vehicles. It is a righty-tighty torque wrench and works great for what I bought it for. As others have mentioned, some bike parts are opposite of standard threading so a different torque wrench may be required for that if you want it to work out of the box. However, the internal torque head insert can be flipped to make it lefty-tighty if needed. So while it wont work for bikes other lathes out-of-the-box it can be made to work. The case that comes with the torque wrench is nice and simple and does the job of protecting the wrench. The instructions that came with the wrench were also useful. Even better, the wrench box came with a QR code printed on it that links to a Youtube video showing to use the tool. I am very impressed with all of this “extra” useful stuff that Tekton provides. I have noticed this kind of extra dedication from Tekton over multiple product lines. I look forward to using this wrench for years to come!Pros:*Easy to use for tire lug nuts*Great instructions that explain how to set the torque and use the wrench*Simple yet useful caseCons:*None so farAdditional Considerations:Be aware of the torque range provided by the wrench! If you need 0-10lbs or >150lbs you will need a different wrench.Overall: 5/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, < .5 rounds down) => 5 starsIf you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

    Sam I Am

Years ago, it seemed like very few project instructions included “torque specs.” Well, recent projects such as installing trailer hitches on my cars and installing wheels on my boat trailer made it clear that proper torque is important.Originally, I purchased a wrench at my local box store from their line of tools. I could not seem to get the wrench to “break,” and was concerned about applying too much torque. I returned the wrench to the store and a clerk tested it on a bolt anchoring shelving to the store floor. He broke the bolt off the floor! Needless to say, I did not bother to exchange it, I simply returned it.Years ago, Craftsmen tools sold by Sears were my go to. But, the near collapse of Sears and the farming of almost all Craftsman manufacturing to China has left me unimpressed. So, what to do?Snap-On tools seem trustworthy, but are way too expensive for my 2-3 projects a year that might require a torque wrench.Eventually, the reviews on this Tekton wrench sold me.I’m extremely impressed with the tool. It seems to be made to last a lifetime, there is no plastic on it. Just high quality steel, etched gradients that will never wear out, and a feel to the “break action” that seems both accurate and precise. The storage box is the “folding plastic hinge” type that will eventually break. If they had thrown another buck or so into proper hinges, the total package would be perfect.Since the tool is the most important thing here, I’m giving this five stars as this wrench is a phenomenal buy from my experience.

Very impressed !! Doing a lot of auto work. Just did brakes and did nto want to guess if I got my brake caliper bolts back to somewhat near the correct torque. I got the 1/2 inch wrench and I could get in and at my brake calipers. Completely read the instructions, r,ember do not put it away tightened and before you try torquing a bolt, do what the instructions say and practice. I put a nut and bolt thru a hole in my metal shelving tightened it a bit by hand then slowly tightened until I felt the “suddle click” the instructions referred to. I didn’t take long swings on it you should tighten slowly especially as you go more because there is no auto stop or clutch break, but it was easy enough to stop right away when I felt the click. As it other reviews it has both ft-lbs (which is really lbs-ft) and newton – meter scales. Its pretty big wrench, a giant breaker bar but don’t use it as one. As a practice I just use this to torque, not to tighten. I did use it once to help break a nut loose but wont make a practice out of it. I compared it to one in the big box store, their 1/2 torque wrench was more than 2x cost and was far bigger and remember I said this was huge. This may not be top of the line but it is very well constructed, sturdy and very reliable and above all extremely attractive price point. I’m very happy with it and it comes with a super sturdy heavy duty case, you can drop stuff on the case and your wrench will be fine. But really don’t do that. Also use it for torquing my tires to correct ft-lbs, even if you don’t do brakes its worth it for that. Don’t tighten lug nuts with a breaker bar or large ratchet. They will all be uneven and you will warp your rotor and your brakes will eventually pulsate. the average specification on rotor runout is about 3 mil. So you really need this for your tires.

    Russ, TEKTON Tool Solutions Specialist

I just got mine yesterday and honestly I’m a bit disappointed the way it looks, I posted a few photos of the product and the two screws were over torque from what it looks like (is that normal?). The handle got scratches all over it and a small chip and feels sharp enough to cut me. I do not usually post bad review but I was let down on this one, I was hoping to get more stuff from tekton but I surely learn my lesson about tools over the internet. I will keep it though because I don’t like to waste my time sending it back.Update 9/18/2015I got my replacement yesterday and I’m really satisfied on how Russ from Tekton took care of this, I asked how to return the other original item and instead let me hang on to it. You guys just won another customer and like I said I have more on my wish list under Tekton product but I want to see how this transaction goes. I am not a big fan of online purchase but definitely gave me a confidence ordering tools from Tekton. Thanks for a great customer service, now you deserved my updated 5 stars!
