Apart from the price fluctuation (I bought at under $20 … by the time I went back to review, it had inexplicably jumped to twice that … would probably not have bought at the later price); the gallon size is convenient/best value for a complete fluid change, plus leaves you with an equally convenient container for recycling your old fluid … clean end to a messy job. This AC Delco “Dexron” stuff is OE for my 2001 Suburban 1500 (4L60-E transmission), and for most GM non-diesel engines/transmissions; I have no idea what other brands might be safe alternatives, and I’m not interested in finding out, because my OE trans has over 210k miles on it and is still working great, so, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”This was part of a complete removal of pan/internal filter change, so I ended up using the entire gallon, plus a quart. You’ll use/need less if you’re not removing the pan/filter … just have to figure out the right quantity for your particular vehicle/job … there’s no hard/fast rule on this that works better than your own brain and eyeballs.Tip for DIY’ers: the “cold” dipstick reading is the easy part … you won’t get an accurate “warm” level reading on the dipstick until you’ve not only run the engine up to normal operating temp, but also driven the car around awhile (preferably at speed/distance sufficient to run through all transmission gears), to fully warm up and circulate the fluid through all parts of the transmission. Take your time, and do this part right for professional results.

UPDATED DECEMBER 2018 – I did two drain and fills on my 2015 Malibu just after my original review. I did it with about 40,000 on my vehicle. I noticed a little bit smoother shift and I now have 65,000 miles on my vehicle. So far very happy with the fluid. I am going to do another drain and fil in about 10,000 miles. I plan on doing it once a year.I have not used this product as I just received it. But I was so confused when looking at these things I thought I would help in case someone had the same issue. My confusion was with ACDELCO 10-9395 and ACDEKCO 10-9244. Tho 10-9244 has a different label on it and says full synthetic on the front label. Now I have no way of knowing if they are the exact same fluid, but the ACDELCO 10-9395 is full synthetic. I would love to know if aACDELCO 10-9395 is the exact same as ACDELCO 10-9244. But anyway here is a photo of the back label of 10-9395

The owners manual of my 1998 Chevy truck requires Dextron III for the transmission. It took a few calls, but according to the Chevy dealer, This product is engineered to mix with any Dextron product down to III. I drained the serviced the automatic transmission and added about four quarts to the transmission which has a capacity of nine quarts. NO PROBLEMS. Shifts like a dream.

A lot of people are unsure about putting this stuff in an older transmission. I flushed the 700r4 in my K2500 with this after swamping my truck and getting mud in the trans. It shifts better than it ever did now. Shifts are virtually instant and quiet.

    Sometimes I do it myself

Cannot overstate the positive change in up/downshifting and cold weather responsiveness after a complete Dexron VI fluid flush. (3 gallons) including a pan drop, drain, pan/magnet clean, Delco gasket/filter kit, adding one gallon to fill the empty pan, then flushing the remaining two gallons out at the trans cooler return line port at the upper radiator and adding at the dip stick full tube at 1/2 gallon intervals. 05’ full size GM Truck with over 100k.

My trans was surging in the higher gears under moderate load. Not causing the engine to show increase or decrease on tachometer, but you could feel it in the seat of your pants. I dropped the trans pan and changed the filter. I took the pan to a welder who welded a nice large nut on it and now I have what should have been there in the first place, a drain! What a concept! I filled it and drained it three times so I did not have to pump or flush and introduce air or run the galleries out of fluid (bringing in air). I used this fluid because its what came with the truck new. NO mixing fluid types even if it says its a replacement for Dextron III I would not mix, just me. The crap that came out of my trans after 85,000 miles was pretty bad. The fluid was very dirty and did have pretty little flakes of brass or bronze. But once I drained three times (6 quarts each time) the thing shifts better than new. Now that I have a drain I can do this every 40,000 miles and hopefully that will extend the life of the truck. Dealers are stupid expensive spend a day and do it, just make the time and arrange ahead to find a welder that can set you up with a drain. When you torque the bolt that goes in the new nut for the drain, hang on to that nut that is welded with a thin wrench to prevent the torque from twisting on the pan. Also use a little Loctite that is made for sealing threads on hydraulics. Hope this helps.

Price is all over the place with this stuff. I just saw it at $32 a few weeks ago so $19 is a good deal which is the price currently. Never seen price variations like this over such a short period. Works great in my 04 Suburban.

Great price and factory fill for my 2014 Silverado. I buy a gallon and swap one gallon every 10,000 miles to keep my trans fluid fresh. I use a pump and pull one gallon out the fill tube and add the new fluid back. I hope to keep my truck for a long time. Preventative maintenance helps and is cheap insurance.

Great fluid, absolute amazing price. My Allison Transmission loves it. Shifts a lot smoother. Highly recommend this in General Motors.

ACDelco Dexron ATF 6 has caught on with the Harley Davidson crowd as the best fluid you can useto lubricate the clutch and chain in the primary case. For years I used Ford type F ATF in mine butthis fluid works even better with HD’s clutch in high temp conditions like those in the desert.
