I have a lovely wood stove that has two panes of glass in the front (two separate panes, not double-paned). When both panes are in, the inner pane gets terribly dirty (and when only one pane is in, that pane gets dirty). If the fire isn’t hot enough (hey, it happens sometimes), the buildup on the glass is horrible, and very stubborn. This spray took off all but the most horribly baked on stuff. I’m not faulting it for not getting the hardest stuff because, hey, it’s a liquid spray, with no grit, and the ease of use and fact that it took off the ‘every day’ stuff is what I would expect from a 5-star woodstove glass cleaner spray.(For the really badly baked-on stuff I used Rutland Hearth and Grill Conditioning Glass Cleaner, 8 Fluid Ounce)

This stuff works and is magnificent. We got it yesterday. I tried it today and was blown away at how well it worked. Here is what I did. I read the reviews from those who said they scrubbed and scrubbed, used razor blades, etc., and it worked just so-so. I first wiped with a strong paper towel after spraying it on the glass. I use Viva towels and they hold up well. It did an okay job, but nothing like I wanted, and it left too much gunk, so then I took a clean paper towel and held it to the glass while spraying directly on the towel, soaking it. It sticks to the glass. Then, I did the other side. I let both soak for about three minutes and then I wiped the glass on both sides of the stove doors. They sparkled! Our stove is not very old; we just got it this winter, but it really was distressing me that it was so dirty on the glass, but no more, and now I can keep it clean. I now have the tools and method that works like a charm. This stuff does the trick.

It was hard to find in the searches but I had used this product before and found it to be nothing short of miraculous. They changed the label since my old bottle so I wasn’t sure if this was the same stuff but one sniff and you’ll know. Oh – avoid that sniff as much as you can as it burns like hell. But the creosote just runs off the glass as soon as this stuff hits it. Not much scrubbing unless you’re several fires behind (I clean after every fire as it only takes a minute).

I was using Windex, but for the hard to get off soot in my wood fireplace insert glass door, I hoped that this was the magic cleaner. Yes it is better than Windex, but much more expensive. It takes a good amount of elbow crease and several applications. Also, the smell is really, really strong, you may even want to wear a mask when applying it. I don’t think I will be buying any more.

Best product on the market… hands down. We use our fireplace daily in the winter, and I am completely OCD about keeping the glass doors clean so that I can see the fire. This product requires no scrubbing, no scraping… just spray on and wipe off with a paper towel. If you have an area with baked on soot, simply spray on the paper towel, hold it on the soiled area for a few seconds and wipe away. This will be the only product I use from this point on.

We love this cleaner! We have a fireplace insert with a glass door and it gets filthy from heavy use.I’ve tried a few cleaners, and this one works great. My suggestion for use this to spray it on and let it sit for five or 10 seconds. After that is a scrubby sponge to release the stubborn soot from the glass. After that is a dry paper towel and wipe it clean. We use it on the glass and on all of the surfaces of our insert. Our fire is going 24 hours a day, and it looks as good as new after each wipe down. One thing worth mentioning is that the bottle is surprisingly small compared to what I expected from the picture.

Love this stuff! Moved into a house that it looked like the fireplace insert glass had not been cleaned in a long time. I really didn’t know if I would be able to get it clean, but this totally worked on it. It did take some doing and multiple sprays and cleaning but it eventually cleaned it perfectly. I know keep up with the cleanings whenever my insert is cool and I have a chance. Will order again. Also, you may want to make sure you put something under your doors while you clean or you may end up with black liquid soot on your mantel base.

I’ve used a woodstove to heat my house for close to 30yrs and I’ve used a few different cleaners for the glass. This one is the best. I’ll be reordering this one from now on. It loosens the soot and creosote on the glass really well making it easy to just wipe it off. It does have some powerful fumes so don’t take a deep breath while you’re working with it. It’s SO much easier to turn the nozzle to spray than the last brand I had. With that one you had to use a sharp pointed object (I used a steak knife. lol) to press down a tiny latch while you turned the nozzle from “off” to “spray.” That’s a great safety feature if you have little kids (or stupid people) getting in your cleaning products. The Red Devil nozzle simply turns – no latch, no hassle. Just what this old lady needs- ease of use.

This product has been a “life saver”. We have a large window on our fireplace insert which offers a gorgeous view of the fire. However, the glass needs to be cleaned at least every other burn to really enjoy that view. I was discouraged by the difficulty i encountered using a glass cleaner or even non-abrasive cleaners. Quite a bit of work and some mess too. This product is in a class all its own.’s a bit expensive but oh my….spray it on…do let it set for up to a minute…and wipe it off. Sometimes i need several sprays if the glass is pretty dirty…but it comes clean completely in a fraction of the time without the mess. Yea!Thank you Meeco’s
